This Old Testament survey has been updated and enhanced. The study allows student participation encouraging meaningful skill development and practice of ideas as the curriculum guides students through the text of the Old Testament. An overview of the kingdom of God theme runs throughout the curriculum and introduces students to God's kingdom mission to the Israelites to multiply holy people and to spread holy place. Each lesson opens with a section that both introduces the topic and presents the lesson's objectives. The Bridge section ties in prior knowledge and often includes an open-ended activity that provides a strong transition to the main idea of the lesson. More guided practice such as collaborative work, discussion questions, and jigsaw questions are presented in the Scripture Link and Student Activities sections of the lessons. Looking Ahead provides a devotional aspect by encouraging students to read their Bibles while also preparing them for what is to be taught in the next lesson. Topics included in this study are The Pentateuch, Israel's History, Writings of Anciet Israel, History of the Fall and Exile of Israel, and the Prophets. The four-color teacher guide presents the Old Testament story in a clean, concise layout. The teacher guide is spiral bound, allowing for easy copying of the colorful handouts and teacher resource sheets that are included. A soft cover student textbook that encourages whole class participation is also available for purchase. A downloadable test bank that includes unit exams in PDF and Word formats is also available. The PDF format allows teachers to print out unit exams exactly as they were created, while the Word format allows teachers to adjust the exam questions to match the teacher's specific objectives for assessing students.
