Product Overview
This volume presents, for the first time, a selection of French right-wing writings for the student of the social sciences and the historian. The readings were chosen and arranged on the principle that from the French Revolution to the post-ar period there is an identifiable tradition of right-wing thought in France which centres on the destruction of the principles for which 1789 stood. From deMaistre through Taine to Barres and Maurras, with assistance from Sorel and Drumont, there is a persistent focus of anti-revolutionary thinking which unites all these disparate spirits and leads directly to Petain and the ideology of Vichy.
