Founded by the glass manufacturer Edward Drummond Libbey at the beginning of this century, the Toledo Museum of Art today possesses one of the largest collections of glass in the world: some 6,000 pieces that document the artistic and technological evolution of glass from the Bronze Age to our own day. Second in the planned series for the scholarly publication of all the ancient glass in the collection, the volume includes 193 objects of blown glass made between the first and sixth centuries A.D.
