Milton Vickermanearned his Ph.D. at New York University and is now an associate professor of sociology at the University of Virginia. His main areas of research are race, immigration, and the processes of minority adaptation to American society. He is the author ofThe Problem of Post-RacialismandCrosscurrents: West Indian Immigrants and Race.

This text is a unique collaboration between Professor Vickerman who works at an R1 university and Professor Strmic-Pawl who works at liberal arts college.
