Assembled by their intrepid Coach in 2001 and built from funds he raised himself, they now face the nations perennial JUCO powerhouse, a team guaranteed the national championship if they defeat the upstarts from Tucson. The Central Texas team, a smash-mouth, knock you down and trample-over-the-body powerhouse, is a full-scholarship, nationally recruited team where every starter is a major college recruit. And they dont just beat up their opponents; they actually knock guys out of the game. Powerful for so long, their nickname in coaching circles has been shortened to CenTex, a word that sounds more like a large, explosive device rather than a college football team. Despite Southern Arizonas huge underdog position, the Coach cobbles together a plan that just might work. But first he must regroup his regionally and culturally diverse team, get them physically reconditioned and overcome a variety of obstacles all on a shoestring budget. But with the help of a growing legion of local Tucson supporters, the coach pulls off a first-class plan that ignites practices and the mental state of his team. What was once an impossible feat now looks almost plausible. The game begins with an early, easy score by CenTex and the game appears to be the expected route.
