Resource Overview National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs is an interactive guide that can be used by school administrators, teachers, parents, and other community members to facilitate discussion, planning, and assessment of parent/family involvement programs in order to improve student achievement. The research that led to the development of the six program standards in this guide is summarized in the first section. Next, each of the six program standards is defined and accompanied by a series of questions schools can answer to evaluate their current parent/family involvement practices. These assessments as a whole can be used to evaluate the overall quality of the school s parent/family involvement programs. Accompanying each standard are examples of how other schools have put ideas into action, implemented the particular standard, and developed parent/family involvement policies tailored to their schools.
