EDUCATION FOR PEACE STUDENT MANUAL - BOOK 2 A Conceptual and Practical Guide This is the second of two Education for Peace volumes designed for secondary school students, based on the teacher-oriented Education for Peace Curriculum Manual (sold separately). Book 2 is comprised of 4 units, addressing such questions as: What impact does violence have on victims and aggressors? How can communities heal from the effects of conflict and violence? How can we resolve conflicts peacefully? What does it take to be a leader for peace ? How does leadership for peace challenge accepted notions of power, authority and decision-making? What can I do to promote a culture of peace, healing and excellence in my home, school and community? Books 1 and 2 of the Student Manual together present a total of 9 units on concepts that are integral to a comprehensive approach to creating a culture of peace, a culture of healing, and a culture of excellence in our school communities. The texts cover such concepts as the oneness of humanity, unity in diversity, the skills of peace-based conflict resolution, leadership for peace, and community-based psychosocial recovery from the destructive impacts of conflict and violence.
