The late, great Sam Greenlee should never be forgotten for writing the novel (published in 1969) and then working with Ivan Dixon to produce the movie in 1973. I was fortunate enough to talk with Mr. Greenlee and interview him several times and he remained razor sharp even up to his final days, passing away in 2014. My book is a dedication to the black men and women who paved the way in the 1960s and woke black people up to black consciousness and black power. My book is more than a review: it is an analysis of what took place and showing how, in retrospect, we made some tactical errors and how present-day black leadership has fallen far short.
