In this book, now in its sixth edition, Dr. James Cyriax describes a systematic method of clinical examination based on the detailed assessment of function of each of the moving parts. Referred pain can thus readily be traced away from the apparent cause to the tissues actually giving rise to symptoms. As exact an assessment as possible can then be made of the position and nature of the lesion. From mastery of this system a successful course of management can then be devised.
