Meher Baba, The Awakener of the Age, describes the life of one who 'mingled with famous celebrities and the unknown poorest of the poor', practiced long periods of fasting and seclusion, at other times taking on rigorous travel to bring His message of unity to the West, and in the East, to locate and serve the special advanced souls known as masts.
Thousands flocked to his Darshan programs, undeterred by the silence that he adopted in 1925 and observed for the remainder of his life until he dropped His body in January 1969. Meher Baba declared Himself without reservation as the Avatar of the Age.
Part I of this book is a thorough biographical account of Meher Baba's life, from his birth in 1894 to the time he received the awareness of his divinity at age 19, and beyond, as he manifested this divinity and fulfilled the obligations particular to his spiritual station as the Highest of the High.
Part II is the articulation of the author's understanding of important concepts delivered by Meher Baba, including Love, Surrender, Meditation, Sanskaras (the impressions that determine our mode of being in life), the Avatar, and the Whim - the original impetus for the Creation.
